The section of the G8way Assessment is concerned with how the company promotes its DEB values to its partners and stakeholders. The modern business environment relies on interdependent networks of stakeholders. This presents opportunities for companies to influence the Diversity & Ethical Business (DEB) practices of partners and stakeholder agencies. Influencing suppliers (or ‘external stakeholders’) is now a matter of routine in negotiation and post-contractual management (supplier relationship management). Companies can wield their influence to encourage third-parties to align with their DEB standards.
This section also seeks to understand if the company has a supplier diversity strategy. Supplier diversity is a business strategy that ensures a diverse supplier base in the procurement of goods and services for any business or organisation. It emphasises the creation of a diverse supply chain that works to secure the inclusion of diverse groups in the procurement plans of government, private industry and not-for-profits. In other words, supplier diversity refers to a supply chain that incorporates businesses owned by diverse individuals or groups.
